The word is out: Peter Dinklage is hot stuff, and everyone is keen to see him win something (read: Emmy) for his performance as Tyrion in HBO’s Game of Thrones.
Step one is accomplished: Peter Dinklage has been submitted for Drama Supporting Actor. However, so have fellow Thronesians Aiden Gillen (“Littlefinger”), Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Mark Addy (King Robert), Nicolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), and Jason Momoa (Khal Drogo). All have given outstanding performances this season, but of course my bias is towards Peter Dinklage, playing the character that is a total fan favorite, hands-down. I do wish that the kid actors, Maisie Williams (Arya) and Isaac Hempstead-Wright (Bran) were submitted; they truly are my favorites in the books and in the TV adaptation.
I’m not the only one to pick up on his outstanding execution of his role as Tyrion. Perhaps spurred on by actor and director Jon Favreau’s tweet: @Jon_Favreau Let’s save time and just give Peter Dinklage an Emmy right now, the acclaim for Peter Dinklage has been growing. Variety just released an article on the Fantasy genre having a chance at picking up some Emmy wins. Apparently a lot of folks are name-dropping Dinklage as a strong contender for this year’s Emmys. And let’s no forget the Facebook page dedicated to giving Peter Dinklage an Emmy.
Nothing left for a fangirl to do but sit and wait for the final Emmy nominations to come out on July 14th, then wait some more for the winners to be announced September 18, 2011. Oh yeah, and watch the last two episodes of Game of Thrones. And then read A Dance with Dragons…
