General Bloggity
I would love to write up my thoughts on A Dance with Dragons, which I finished on Sunday (thank you very much for holding me hostage for 2 weeks, Mr. Martin), but I’ve become afflicted with pains in my thumb and hand, probably blog-related. Expect little from me for a while. 
Also, I went ahead and cancelled my cable TV. I’m now at the mercy of Netflix streaming. So between Lost and Hoarders, I should be ok for a while. I’ll be sure to send a raven if I become too out of touch with popculture. D’oh.
Still alive, not finished yet!

I have been unable to memorize the words to any song since 1993. There is one song that I know perfectly: 1990s SNL, Steve Martin’s “Tonight Song”, but it’s not available online and it would take me too long to get the DVD. So here’s more Mikey. I think I know all the words to FNM’s The Real Thing album. Quintessential 90s video in glorious funk-colors.

Trigun: Badlands Rumble Comes to AZ for a week
Good news, Arizona anime fans!
Trigun: Badlands Rumble, the latest of the Trigun movies, will be shown for a week in Tempe starting Friday July 8th at the Valley Art theater. The movie is “touring” the country this summer, giving fans a chance to see it on the big screen.
There are a few other AZ locations playing the film in Scottsdale and Surprise, but only for a few days. A list of other Arizona showings (and the rest of the US!) is available in the Trigun theater list at Eleven Arts.
If you don’t get a chance to see it this summer, Saboten Con will be showing Trigun: Badlands Rumble at this years convention in early October! I hope you have your tickets already!
On Kittens and Sundry
The first monsoon storm of the season hit today, breaking up the 110+ degree heat, at least for the evening.
A couple days ago, a litter of kittens appeared on my porch. Mama Cat had been hanging around the cul-de-sac for the past 3 weeks, so I guess she’s been moving them around. Everyone’s got me pegged for a sucker, so I’ve been making sure she has food, water, and a cool area for her brood to play in. We’re thinking that she belongs to someone in the neighborhood, and either they don’t know or care that she’s got kittens or they booted her out because of it.
Everybody say wayo
Let’s be clear. I live in a cat-free household, by choice. In my head, I know that kittens, adorable as they are, grow up to be cats. But in my heart, I feel that maybe just these kitties will stay innocent, sweet, and unable to maul furniture and jump on counters. My dream kitten would have no back legs. Our two dogs love kitties; it’s the heaps of reptiles we have that have me worried. That, and Shawn hates those of the feline persuasion, and one of my good friends is extremely allergic.
So I’m forced to foster these little stowaways outside, at least until we find kindhearted fools who are willing to take in these furry bundles. We’ve been working on socializing them, and although they are still timid, they no longer hiss and spit when we pick them up, which is too bad because it sounds hilariously like our Steam Shot cleaner. *pfffsst* *pfffsst*
