Peter Dinklage Rumors

Older filmographies and outdated reports of on-stage roles still circulate the interwebs. There are few official retractions, and some projects are never officially cancelled, just put indefinitely on-hold.

Originated the role of Torvald for Lee Breuer’s Dollhouse while it was in production (New York Theatre Workshop 2002, Sundance Institute summer 2003), but due to Peter Dinklage’s schedule constraints the role went to actor Mark Povinelli in 2004.

Peter Dinklage was also originally cast in Martha Clark’s play about the life of Henri de Toulouse Lautrec in the summer/fall of 2004. However, there was apparently a conflict, as he was also scheduled to be in Richard III in October. The Toulouse Lautrec production Belle Epoque (name changed from Nothing is Forever) ended up opening in November, also starring Mark Povinelli.

Dinklage is sometimes credited for Dangerous Parking (2007), but IMDB does not list him. I can’t find any retractions of his specific role, but other actors, like Guy Pearce and Mena Suvari, also mysteriously vanished from the cast.

Mendel’s Dwarf is/was to be a Mark Palansky film; it’s currently in pre-production according to IMDB but no other confirmations have been made. Same with a film based on the character of Hop-frog. Mark Palansky directed of Penelope, and assuming he is still working on Mendel’s Dwarf and Hopfrog, there is a chance of Peter Dinklage roles in the films. Palansky himself seems to have dropped off the face of the Earth, as none of his projects have been updated since 2009.

Peter Dinklage was reportedly in negotiation to play Mongo the Magnificent, a character created by George C. Chesbro, who passed away in 2008. The author wrote the screenplay, but the studio that owns the rights have pretty much pulled all efforts offline and have not been responsive to inquiry. It seems unlikely that this project will move forward.

There are even more rumors about Peter Dinklage playing Herve Villechaize (actor who played Tattoo in TV’s Fantasy Island) in a biographical piece directed by Sacha Gervasi titled “My Dinner With Herve”.

Little Green Men (2013) with John Malkovich? This one really has very little to back it up, just throwing it out there for all you crazy, obsessed fans. :)

The latest buzz about Peter Dinklage is that Christopher Markus, co-writer for Captain America: The First Avenger, really, really, really wants him to play M.O.D.O.K, a super villain from the Marvel Universe, in a future sequel. I’m not up on my Captaim America comic book history, but apparently this villain is a creepy bighead that flies around and probably has lasers.

Also, Peter Dinklage is not dead.

Recognition and Accolades

Peter Dinklage, besides being nominated for various awards, has been named one of Entertainment Weekly’s Top 5 breakout stars of 2003, and made it into People Magazine’s “Simply the Best: A Portfolio of Men We Love” article.

Buzz about Peter Dinklage has been growing since Game of Thrones, where he’s a clear fan favorite in his portrayal of Tyrion Lannister.

NOT starring Peter Dinklage

Peter Dinklage was NOT in the following productions:

1981 Oingo Boingo “Little Girls” Music Video. I don’t think even the mighty Peter Dinklage could sport such a rockin’ porn ‘stache at the age of 12.
1989 U2 “All I Want is You” Music Video. Most likely, it’s Italian actor Paolo Risi. Then 20-year old Peter Dinklage would have still been studying at Bennington College and unavailable for a shoot in Italy.
2000 Bloodhound Gang “The Bad Touch” Music Video. Not him. “I look nothing like this guy!” – PD
2000-2002 Jackass (MTV) & Jackass: The Movie. Peter Dinklage is not Wee Man. The Jackass role belongs to Jason Acuña.
2004 John Mellencamp “Walk Tall” Music Video. This is not Peter Dinklage. Not only does the actor not look like him, I contacted the casting director and she had no record of him working on the video – his name wasn’t on the call sheet. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the name of the actor who was in the video. But trust me.
2008 In Bruges
People often confuse Peter Dinklage with Jordan Prentice. Nothing against Prentice, but he’s just not as good looking as Dinklage.

Peter will also not be appearing in The Brothers Grimm: Snow White or related films.
