Exactly 8 Weeks Away…
Only 8 more weeks until the premiere of Season 2 of Game of Thrones on HBO! This season roughly correlates to A Clash of Kings, the second book of George R R Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy series. Parts are also included from the third book, Storm of Swords, as some storylines were pulled in early from season one.
The wait is nearly over! Tune in on Sunday, April 1, 2012 for the second season of award-winning show Game of Thrones on HBO.
Peter Dinklage Wins Golden Globe Award
Tonight was the awards ceremony for the 2011 Golden Globes, and nobody was surprised that Peter Dinklage won yet again for Best Supporting Actor in his role as Tyrion in HBO’s Game of Thrones. Except for his mother, who apparently thought Guy Pearce was gonna take it home. You know how moms are… she secretly knew he’d win but just wanted him to act surprised.
Check out Peter Dinklage’s Golden Globes acceptance speech!
World famous dog-sitter Kitty was not mentioned tonight, however, the actor was nervous about leaving his newborn DAUGHTER (congrats!) home with a baby-sitter.
Unfortunately, Game of Thrones did not win best Drama TV Series. The win went instead to Showtime’s Homeland. We’re not even going to talk about the People’s Choice snubs a few weeks back. Looking at the winners for that awards show, I think they’re probably a totally different beast that doesn’t like to acknowledge any series not on basic cable.
2011 Holiday Gifts Roundup: A Game of Thrones Graphic Novels
So, speaking of graphic novels… In addition to the The Hedge Knight graphic novels from yesterday, the first six issues of the comics will be published as A Game of Thrones: The Graphic Novel starting in 2012!
Writer Daniel Abraham and illustrator Tommy Patterson have teamed up to bring George R. R. Martin’s A Game of Thrones in all its full-color glory. This hard cover edition of AGoT Volume 1 covers the first six of the planned 24 issues of the graphic series. Doing the math, there should be three more hard cover volumes to follow. The story here introduces the Starks of Winterfell, the King of the Realm, his dearly departed Hand, the lascivious Lannisters, the Brothers of the Night’s Watch, and the last heirs to House Targaryen.
Pre-order now and reserve your copy of AGoT: The Graphic Novel for March 27, 2012.

Whether you want to cover your laptop or your phone with the Stark Direwolf, these skins can protect your device and inform everyone that Winter is Coming. 2011 Holiday Gifts Roundup: Game of Thrones Comics
Don’t know what to get for the George R R Martin fan who has everything? How about comics with multiple covers? Make your list… check it twice… get all the comics, they’re very nice!
Enjoy A Game of Thrones #1 “Winter Is Coming” comic with options of multiple covers. There’s plenty to choose from. The Mike Miller cover (left) shows Ned Stark under the heart tree in the godswood of Winterfell. The Alex Ross cover (right) features a man with a sword (presumably Ned Stark, but there’s certainly no shortage of men with swords in Westeros) surrounded by the 6 Stark Direwolves (there is a shortage of Direwolves so I’m certain these are them).
Alex Ross and Tommy Patterson also teamed up to create some variant covers for the first issue. The Ice Blue variant cover (left) was produced for New England Comic Book Retailers and only 1000 copies were printed. The Negative (reverse color image) is available as well. Do these covers are available in limited quantities, so this may be your last chance to pick up some rare collectible comics on the cheap from Amazon.
For more details on later issues of the A Game of Thrones comic, check out the publisher’s site at Dynamite Entertainment, where you can also order online if you can’t find them in your local comics shop.
Still not sure? Check out the first issue thanks to the extended preview!

2011 Holiday Gifts Roundup: Night’s Watch Oath Mug
It’s cold. You’re 700 feet up on a Wall of ice. It’s cold. You’re stuck here with a bunch of smelly dudes, rapers, theives and green boys. It’s cold. Your only entertainment is fighting Wildlings or becoming an Other. It’s cold. Not even Winter yet, the Summer snows are omnipresent. It’s cold. You’re here for life. What’s worse – this place doesn’t even have coffee.
What better way of reminding your brothers of the Vows you’ve all sworn than with the Night’s Watch Oath Mug, an HBO Shop exclusive Game of Thrones item. Holding 16 ounces, this ceramic mug has taken the black along with you crows. Settle in for a long night and serve up some of the Old Boar’s Hot Spiced Wine… your watch isn’t over yet.
