Learn your Westeros geography with this artistically rendered map of the Seven Kingdoms!
Don’t lose sight of the important strongholds in the realm. From the lands north of the Wall to the southron peninsula, this map encompasses Westeros and a teasing taste of the Eastern continent, Essos. Hang this map proudly in your throneroom, war tent or solar. The color and quality is good enough to display in any tower at the Citadel!
Another HBO Shop exclusive, the Westeros poster is 11 x 17 inches and comes with a plastic sleeve and hanging hook.
2011 Holiday Gifts Roundup: Night’s Watch Oath Mug
It’s cold. You’re 700 feet up on a Wall of ice. It’s cold. You’re stuck here with a bunch of smelly dudes, rapers, theives and green boys. It’s cold. Your only entertainment is fighting Wildlings or becoming an Other. It’s cold. Not even Winter yet, the Summer snows are omnipresent. It’s cold. You’re here for life. What’s worse – this place doesn’t even have coffee.
What better way of reminding your brothers of the Vows you’ve all sworn than with the Night’s Watch Oath Mug, an HBO Shop exclusive Game of Thrones item. Holding 16 ounces, this ceramic mug has taken the black along with you crows. Settle in for a long night and serve up some of the Old Boar’s Hot Spiced Wine… your watch isn’t over yet.
Peter Dinklage and GoT Golden Globes Noms
The nominees have been announced for the 2011 Golden Globes and guess who’s on it? HBO’s Game of Thrones has been nominated for Best Drama Series and is up against the likes of Homeland, American Horror Story, Boardwalk Empire and Boss – all cable network series, showing the talent present on cable these days.
Peter Dinklage has also made the cut, naturally, with the likes of Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family), Paul Giamatti (Too Big to Fail), Tim Robbins (Cinema Verite) and Guy Pearce (Mildred Pierce) in the Best Supporting Actor category. Tune in to NBC on January 15, 2012 as Ricky Gervais hosts The Golden Globes!
Good luck to the GoT folks!
2011 Holiday Gifts Roundup: Game of Thrones Coasters
Historians agree that the biggest grievances for the people of antiquity were unsightly stains on fine linens and regal wood tables from spilt ale, boar grease, and poisoned wine. Robert Baratheon himself would fancy these Game of Thrones coasters to keep the Great Hall’s high table fresh and tidy.
So as you feast and wench this festive season, mind your cups and use a coaster proclaiming your House sigil. This set of four features the Houses of Baratheon, Stark, Targaryen and Lannister emblems on tumbled stone coasters with cork baking so they won’t scratch or mar your furnishings, whether you are entrenched within your war tent or breaking fast in your solar.
An HBO Store exclusive!
2011 Holiday Gifts Roundup: A Game of Thrones Card Game
If a 5 foot sword isn’t your idea of a stocking stuffer, why don’t you delight your loved ones with A Game of Thrones: The Card Game? Based on the A Song of Ice and Fire book series by award-winning author George R. R. Martin, the card game from Fantasy Flight Games is a sure hit for GRRM fans and card gamers alike.
When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die. Luckily, if it’s just the card game you don’t have to sweat it. You can play with 2-4 players, in a heads up game with one opponent (a joust) or multiplayer with up to 3 other players (a melee). Similar to other collectible card games like Magic: The Gathering, these cards are more than just game pieces, they are works of art! There are many expansion packs available, allowing you to customize your playing deck to fell your foes. The starter game package includes a game board and four 52-card playing decks to get you reaving and plundering your enemies.
2011 Holiday Gifts Roundup: A Game of Thrones Board Game
Winter is Coming. And here is a game to replace all other boardgames these long winter nights… A Game of Thrones: The Board Game.
Choose your House. There’s no wimpy thimble in this game. Only iron, blood, and glory. Unlike Monopoly, you don’t charge rent – you take heads. You’ll need three to six players to prove your skills in battle, strategy and card-wielding. Take lands and control your strongholds. Be the first to unite the realm of Westeros. You even have little privacy screens like ye olde Dungeon Master. Surely a hit at your next holiday party!
Like reading the novels, you must be over 14 to play.
2011 Holiday Gifts Roundup: Game of Thrones Soundtrack
Are you tired of holiday music yet? For a nice change of pace, check out the musical soundtrack to HBO’s Game of Thrones!
Composed by Ramin Djawadi, the Game of Thrones OST contains 29 short tracks, totaling a little more than an hour for you to recall the first season with fondness. Or revulsion or whatever, depending on your favorite scenes. If you’re not a fan of instrumentals, this is probably not for you. Djawadi also scored the soundtracks for Iron Man and Clash of The Titans 2008 remake.
There are no tracks by John Mayer or Kanye West on this album.
2011 Holiday Gifts Roundup: Game of Thrones DVD Set
Ok, you’ll have to wait for this gift, so only buy it for fans who are very patient and forgiving. Luckily, most of GRRM’s fans are exactly that! We’re used to waiting years, so a scant few months is nothing. This would be an especially fun taunt to buy for those fans who swore off GRRM forever because he dared make them wait! Blub, blub, blub!
Pre-order the first season of Game of Thrones from the HBO shop. DVDs are $59.99 and Blu-Ray discs are $79.98. Features include “Making of” behind the scenes footage with cast and crew, the creation of the title sequence, interactive guide to the realm of Westeros complete with character profiles, how the Dothraki language was crafted by David Peterson, and BEST OF ALL, some audio commentaries! Peter Dinklage included!
Game of Thrones: The Complete First Season comes out March 6, 2012, plenty of time to marathon the 10 episodes before Season Two starts on April 15th.

2011 Holiday Gifts Roundup: Game of Thrones Genesis
**** Spoiler alert on this merry little jingle….beware, it is also awful. ***
Up in Winterfell, Direwolf paws!
Out jump White walkers, hungry maws!
Up in a window Bran is shoved!
Off to the Wall with the bastard unloved!
Ho ho ho! Who wouldn’t go?
Ho ho ho! Ned’s gotta go!
Down to King’s Landing, clop, clop, clop!
Off with his head, chop, chop, chop!
Do you know what others also think is awful? Game of Thrones: Genesis, the PC game from Cyanide. It’s gotten really low scores on Amazon, while Steam users are recommending it. It’s in my own Wishlist, hint. It has a metascore of 54, with a user score of 4.5, which is worryingly low. However, most reviewers are a bunch of saggy-pants whiny green boys. The positive reviews do tell of a game of strategy, statesmanship, alliance, treachery, and choices. You can’t hack and slash your way to victory, so go play an FPS for godsake.
Anyway, I really don’t want to twist your arm or anything but Amazon is having a sale on this puppy so if you want to try it out, now’s the time.
You can also find this 4.1 GB download at Steam. It’s so special there’s no hard-copy available. I guess that saves the Earth from thousands of abandoned polycarbonate discs in the long-run if the scores are anything to go by. If you don’t use Steam I guess it would be hard to gift this to someone, so this one’s all yours.
Peter Dinklage Wins Spike Award
Peter Dinklage is really raking in the awards! He has received the illustrious achievement of Best Supporting Actor from Spike TV’s 2011 Scream Awards for his role as Tyrion Lannister in HBO’s Game of Thrones.
You can watch Peter accept his award via magic tonight (Tuesday, Sept. 18th) at 8/9 Central on, of all places, Spike TV.
Up against the likes of Kieran Culkin (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World), Rupert Grint AND Alan Rickman (Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows), as well as Tommy Lee Jones (Captain America: The First Avenger), Peter Dinklage managed to come out on top. Also worth noting: Game of Thrones won for Best TV Show!
Notice that Fringe didn’t win anything this time around. Boo-hoo!
